Type: applicable to DTY/FDY spinning
Introduction to PLA fiber:
Polylactic acid (PLA) fiber, the derivative product of polylactic acid, is a kind of lactic acid fiber, which is fermented from carbohydrate enriched substances (such as corn, beet, cassava and other crops and organic wastes) and bacteria, and then through cyclization dimerization or direct polymerization to obtain high-performance lactic acid polymer. Finally, PLA fiber is made by certain spinning methods. It is also called "corn fiber" because it uses corn and other grains as raw materials.
Characteristics of PLA fiber:
1. Biodegradability
PLA fiber has good biodegradability and can be completely decomposed into CO2 and H2O in nature. Both of them can become the raw material of lactic acid - starch through photosynthesis.
2. Lightweight, natural and gentle touch and silk luster
The density of PLA is 1.24g/cm3, which is a light fiber. The Young's modulus of PLA is between polyester and nylon, so the handle is harder than nylon and softer than polyester. PLA has low refractive index and silk like luster.
3. Moisture absorption, breathability, quick drying and warmth retention
PLA fiber can play different functions according to different seasons. The thermal insulation in winter is more than 20% higher than that of cotton and polyester fiber. In summer, it has excellent moisture permeability and water diffusion. It can absorb sweat and dry quickly. It can quickly take away body heat through evaporation. Even if wetted by water, it will dry quickly without sticky feeling.
Application scope and demand of PLA fiber
Existing application scenarios
Daily use: plastic bags, takeout tableware, food packaging bags, tea bags, toothbrush hair, etc
Agriculture, forestry, fishery and animal husbandry: instead of polyethylene film, it can also be used for ripening film, seed bag, weed prevention net, fishing net, fishing line and breeding net rope
Application scenarios for future expansion
Indoor articles, such as carpet, sofa cover, towel, bath towel, tea towel, table cloth, etc; It can also be used as bedding, such as bedspread, bedspread, quilt cover, towel quilt, pillow cover, etc.
Garment fabric: It can be blended with cotton, wool and other biodegradable fibers and processed into coats, dresses, close fitting clothes, T-shirts, sportswear, diapers, military clothing
Biomedicine: absorbable surgical suture, tissue engineering scaffold for cell culture, transportation and daily medical supplies, such as gauze, absorbent cotton, bandages, medical masks, surgical clothes, gloves, disposable products, etc
In construction, it can be used for ground covering reinforcement materials, and in papermaking, it can be used for special trial paper, etc
Note: The domestic PLA fiber grade is almost 0, so the current application scenarios are mainly focused on the daily low-end applications such as takeout boxes, plastic bags, agricultural films, packaging bags, etc. With the gradual decline of PLA costs in the future, the fiber grade is gradually increased, and its application scenarios will continue to be extended
